Mandela was a calm and confident dog. He loved people and was almost untypical social for a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He was patient with children, although he preferred cuddling over playing with them. If they were too noisy he simply left the area to find piece and quiet. Mandela tried out tracking, agility and obedience. He did almost anything to get a treat, however obedience competition was not his thing: without the treat he didn't really see the point...

Mandela was not a typical guardian dog, but if you knew him well you could tell that he was on guard. He seldom barked, but his body language still revealed that he was alert and aware of what was going on. Most people were warmly welcomed in the house by a happy dog.

Mandela was a relaxed and thrust wordy companion in his almost twelve year long life.
